As a member of Congress and a elected breakthrough leader, he played an outsized role in moving our entire country in a more progressive direction. As an ardent backer of all pro-worker and civil rights legislation, he helped to lead a new movement for economic and racial justice in America. Today, he provides courageous and decisive leadership as we attempt to transform our entire nation to a place of justice, equality and opportunity for all.
